The original series, about a family stranded in space, aired on TV in America in 1965 and ran for three seasons. It was revamped as a 1998 film starring Matt LeBlanc and Gary Oldman.

Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, who wrote the screenplay for last year's (14) Dracula Untold, are on board to pen the script for the series, according to Deadline.com, and Neil Marshall is the frontrunner to direct. His credits include the critically acclaimed Blackwater episode of Game of Thrones.
