Loretta Lynn has cancelled a number of concerts and public appearances as she struggles to recover from knee surgery.
The veteran country star was due to be feted at the Academy of Country Music's Girls' Night Out: Superstar Women of Country concert in Nevada on Monday night (04Apr11), but she scrapped her planned performance and recorded a video message apologising for her absence.
Lynn, 78, has now axed upcoming gigs in Biloxi, Mississippi and Fort Worth, Texas this week (beg04Apr11) and she's blamed the cancellations on a recent operation on her knee, which has failed to heal properly.
In a post on her website, she writes, "As y'all know I just went and got my knee done a few weeks back. I am sad to cancel the upcoming shows in Biloxi on April 8th and Fort Worth on April 9th, but I am stuck until my darn knee is better. I was looking forward to seeing all my fans. I'm so tired of being cooped up. Hope to see y'all in Toledo, on the 14th."
The singer hopes to be fit to return to the stage for a show in Toledo, Ohio next week (beg11Apr11).
