Australian singer Megan Washington has urged the Dj at the centre of an on-air spat with Lorde to retire, branding his conduct "embarrassing".
Australian radio host Kyle Sandilands appeared to offend the teenage pop star by asking about her friendship with fellow singer Taylor Swift when she was a guest on his Kiis 1065 programme The Kyle & Jackie O Show this week (beg10Mar14).
He said, "Are you guys like... together now?... Not together as in lesbians. I'm not talking about 'Ellen (DeGeneres) together'. I'm talking about, like, you guys are friendly right?"
The comment prompted Lorde to retort, "What do you mean you're not talking about 'Ellen together'? Is there something wrong with lesbians? Is that what you're trying to say?..." while Sandilands pushed the singer further by adding, "Oh my God no, I would love that!"
Sandilands has since been heavily criticised for his comments, and now singer Washington has waded into the debate, urging the Dj to give up his on-air position.
She writes in a post on Twitter.com, "Kyle Sandilands: You are embarrassing. Please retire. You have enough money. Please go away."
