America's summer festivals have suffered another blow - the first Lollapalooza of 2003 has been scrapped.

The revamped touring festival was scheduled to kick off in Michigan at the beginning of next month (03JUL03), but staging and technical difficulties have prompted organisers to cancel the event.

Instead, Lollapalooza, which will feature Jane's Addiction, Incubus and Audioslave will begin a day later.

The Michigan date is the second festival cancelled this summer (03) after news that the inaugural BONAROO NE event in August has been axed after logistical and permit problems.

The Field Day FESTIVAL earlier this month (JUN03) also faced permit problems and was faced to find a new home in three days.
