Lisa Marie Presley was happy with her marriage to MICHAEL JACKSON - when she realised how much it annoyed her mother.

The singer, daughter of late rock 'n' roll legend Elvis Presley and actress Priscilla Presley, stunned the world when she and the eccentric superstar announced to the world they were married in 1994.

And while Lisa Marie notes getting to know the BAD singer made him more appealing to her, but it was her mother's disapproval that really encouraged her.

Lisa Marie, who went on to marry - and divorce - actor Nicolas Cage after the 1996 meltdown of her marriage to Jackson, explains of her decision to become his wife, "He was very quick to - the first time I met him - sit me down and go, 'Listen, 'I'm not gay. I know you think this and I know you think that.' He started cursing and he started being a normal person and I was like, 'Wow.'

"So I get caught up in that and pulled in right away. I'm like, 'Wow, you're so misunderstood.' Then I fell into this whole, 'You poor misunderstood, sweet thing - I'm gonna save you.'"

She adds of her mother, "She called me and said, 'Oh Lisa, there's helicopters outside the house and they're saying you married Michael Jackson.' I was just quiet. And she goes, 'You didn't! You didn't!' And I go, 'Yeah, I did.' And that was game on for me - mom doesn't like it, let's go!"
