Lisa Edelstein, the American actress best known for playing 'Dr Cuddy' on Fox's hit series 'House', says she is leaving the medical drama after seven seasons on the show, reports Deadline. Lisa Edelstein's character formed an on-screen relationship with Hugh Laurie's 'Dr House', affectionately referred to by fans as "Huddy".
In a statement announcing her departure from the Golden Globe winning series, Edelstein referred to her 'new opportunities', saying, "After much consideration, I am moving onward with a combination of disappointment at leaving behind a character I have loved playing for seven years and excitement of the new opportunities in acting and producing that lie ahead". The news comes just days after the show's star Hugh Laurie signalled his intention to leave the show after the eighth series, telling the Radio Times, "The end of that season looks like the end of the show. That's as far as they've got me for.I wouldn't say that doing the series has made my marriage easier. Better? I don't know about that either". The British actor reportedly earns $392,000 an episode to play the grumpy doctor 'Gregory House'.
Lisa Edelstein also voices the character of 'Sharri Rothberg' on the hit U.S. animated series 'American Dad', and starred in the 2006 comedy movie 'Grilled' with Kevin James and RAY ROMANO.
