The Mean Girls actress hit headlines in July (16) when she went on a rant on Twitter, accusing her Russian partner Egor Tarabasov of cheating on her in a series of angry posts, including one which featured a picture of Egor with Dasha Pashevkina, who Lindsay described as a "Russian hooker".

The fashion designer admitted she was hurt by the allegations last week (ends31Jul16), insisting she would never sleep with Egor, and she has now got a legal team involved.

Her lawyers have issued a letter to Lindsay, warning her they will sue over the allegations unless she posts a public apology on social media.

“Her lawyers have written to Lindsay and Dasha has requested an apology via Instagram which if forthcoming would cease legal action," a representative for Dasha said in the legal letter, according to Britain's The Sun newspaper.

Lindsay Lohan made some defamatory and completely untrue remarks regarding my client which have caused her and her family a great deal of anguish and turmoil.... Dasha wishes to move on from this now and focus on more important matters but felt it was both right and necessary to publicly demand an apology.”

Lindsay and Egor were recently caught on camera embroiled in a heated argument, in which the actress demanded he get out of her London home and accused him of strangling her.

Dasha, a friend of the couple, who has known Egor for five years and introduced him to Lindsay, told the publication last week she doesn't believe Egor could be violent towards women.

"He’s such a loyal guy and he would never cheat on her, he does actually love her," she said. "She seems intent on self-destruction and of isolating herself from everyone that is actually good around her, which is her loss."

Lindsay has since apologised for going public with her relationship drama and has gone on vacation to the Mediterranean island of Sardinia.
