Lindsay Lohan was relieved to have her stolen purse returned to her on Monday (December 12, 2011), but the actress was horrified to find the thief had taken off with $10,000 in cash. According to, Lindsay had her luxury Chanel purse swiped from a Hawaii house party at the weekend.
After police had arrived on the scene, the Mean Girls star explained how the purse was carrying her passport, important documentation and the incredible sum of money. Lindsay stayed at the party long after the authorities had left and apparently drove the revellers "into a frenzy" for hours by demanding they search for the purse. After several hours of fruitless searching, the actress was getting ready to leave in the early hours of Monday morning (December 12, 2011) when a friend spotted a suspicious looking local and asked if he knew where the bag was. The man allegedly denied everything but showed up with the Chanel bag just minutes later, claiming he found it on the street somewhere. Lindsay was "ecstatic" to have the bag returned, but was somewhat less impressed with the missing $10,000. Nevertheless, she "didn't bother" asking the man any further questions and left for home with the purse.
The theft comes just days after Lohan's highly anticipated spread for Playboy magazine leaked onto the internet a week before it was due to hit shelves. Subsequently, Playboy magnate Hugh Hefner has made the decision to release the issue early, telling Twitter followers, "Because of the interest and the internet leak, we're releasing the Lindsay Lohan issue early. Lindsay Lohan was the top search name on the internet yesterday. Hot Hot Hot".
