American rockers Limp Bizkit have pulled out of the inaugural DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL in Britain in order to complete work on their long-awaited new album.

The ROLLIN' band had been scheduled to headline the event on 1 June (03), performing alongside the likes of Iron Maiden, Marilyn Manson, Deftones and Audioslave.

But the FRED DURST-led group recently rescheduled and renamed their forthcoming LP in order to record a fresh batch of material with new guitarist MIKE SMITH and it's thought they will now spend the next few weeks working on the album.

In a recent posting on Limp Bizkit's official website, frontman Durst wrote, "Now there will be no more f**kin' around!! We are in the vocal stage on the new sh**!!

"Sometimes you just have to go with the flow of creativity and we're doing just f***king that!"

Download Festival promoters CLEAR CHANNEL ENTERTAINMENT said today (12MAY03), "We are disappointed to lose Limp Bizkit."
