British pop star Lily Allen has had her U.S. working visa revoked following an interrogation at Los Angeles international airport.
The singer was detained by custom and immigration officials for five hours on Sunday (05Aug07), as she flew in from Australia for the MTV video music awards nominations party in Las Vegas.
Among the subjects broached by U.S. officers was Lily's March (07) arrest in London following an alleged altercation with a photographer. She was cautioned for the incident after voluntarily attending a police station in June.
Allen's visa revocation puts her September (07) tour in America in jeopardy, but she's vowed to do her best to resolve the issue and avoid disappointing fans.
She says, "It is my intention to play my American dates in September. This depends on the authorities granting me a new work visa.
"I want my fans to know that I will do everything I can to be back in September. I don't like letting my fans down and this is a situation I am sure we can sort."
It's not the first time Allen has had problems with airport staff. Following an incident at an airport in New York in May (07) she wrote on her MySpace blog. "I was told it was because I am a musician."
