British pop star Lily Allen has urged her troubled friend Amy Winehouse to kick her alleged drug addiction - because she's creative enough when she's sober.
The Rehab singer made a surprise comeback at Tuesday (04Sep07) night's Mercury Music Prize awards ceremony in London after high-profile spells in hospital and much tabloid coverage of her reported drug problems.
And Allen, who has battled her own depression issues, is sympathetic to her on/off pal's personal "demons".
She says, "My heart goes out to her. I feel for her so much with everything that's happened and I really hope she's OK.
"You don't need drugs to be creative. No one needs them.
"I have my problems but they are nothing compared to Amy's. It can't be very easy for her to deal with her demons in the spotlight. I can't imagine how hard it is for her."
