Lily Allen is taking a break from her pop career to test out her acting skills in London's West End.
The Smile singer is sick of music after performing at a string of festivals this summer (09) and she's decided to try out some theatre before picking up the microphone again.
She has agreed to star in a new play in the British capital's theatre district after she was offered the lead role in writer/director Neil LaBute's Reasons To Be Pretty.
Allen says, "I'm not going to record and tour again for quite a while. I finish up my gig dates in March and I'll be ready to do something else.
"I've been on the road for four years and I've given my voice a real run for its money. I'm struggling, so I'm going to try something new."
Allen, 24, has even signed up for acting lessons as she prepares for her debut in the play, a sequel to LaBute's hit shows The Shape Of Things and Fat Pig.
