Galaxy Of The Lost
Lightspeed Champion's first single, Galaxy Of The Lost, will be released on July 16th.
Galaxy Of The Lost is a beautifully arranged catchy tune, which hinges on the ambivalent couplet.
The track features drums, bass, pedal steel and string arrangements from an informal backing band of Omaha luminaries such as Nate Walcott and The Faint's drummer Clark Baechle. It also includes sweet backing vocals from Dev's friend Emmy The Great, which combined with Dev's dark lyrics set the emotional tone of forthcoming album, Falling Off The Lavender Bridge, due for a September release. The accompanying video is an eye-popping monster puppet promo devised by Dev's friend Ferry Gaul (from the Semifinalists), which sees our man being attacked by colourful, malevolent furballs.
Dev Hynes aka Lightspeed Champion chose to head out to Omaha, Nebraska to record with Saddle Creek Records' resident producer, Mike Mogis. The result is a semi-acoustic, country-rock and folk-pop sound, which will surprise anyone who remembers Dev from his heavier Test Icicles days.
Lightspeed Champion will be performing live at the following shows:
June 5: London, the Scala - Los Campesinos support
July 14: Manchester, International Festival - Final Fantasy support
July 19: London, TBC
Sept 3: Leeds - Tilly & The Wall support

The NBC series ended a decade ago, but Will, Grace, Karen and Jack haven't changed a bit.
Now THAT'S an engagement ring. Good job, Aaron Lohr!
The album is Williams’ first release since 2013’s ‘Swings Both Ways’.
There's already an Oscars buzz surrounding this movie.
