Liam Neeson's new thriller Non-Stop has been blocked from the top of the U.K. box office chart by animated comedy The Lego Movie.

The airplane drama pulled in $4.3 million (£2.7 million) in its opening weekend (28Feb-02Mar14), leaving it trailing behind The Lego Movie, which scored a third consecutive weekend on top with $5.3 million (£3.3 million).

Ironically, Neeson voiced one of the Lego characters in the film which kept Non-Stop from number one.

Buddy comedy Ride Along, starring Ice Cube and Kevin Hart, was another new entry at three with $2.3 million (£1.4 million), just ahead of war drama The Book Thief, which pulled in just short of the $2.3 million (£1.4 million) mark.

The top five was rounded out by another kids' film, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, which earned $1.3 million (£795,797).
