Bosses at a top U.S. gunmaking company are urging firearms experts to boycott Liam Neeson's films after the Taken star took aim at America's trigger-happy culture in a recent interview.

During a promotional trip to Dubai last week (ends16Jan15), the Hollywood hardman called for a universal crackdown on privately-owned firearms in the aftermath of the recent terrorist attacks in France, insisting that guns need to be taken out of the hands of private citizens.

He said, "In America, I think the population is, like, 320 million (and) there's over 300 million guns. Privately owned, in America. I think it's a... disgrace. Every week now we're picking up a newspaper and seeing, 'Yet another few kids have been killed in schools'."

His remarks have annoyed gunmakers at Para Usa, who ironically provided the guns for Neeson's latest film Taken 3, and they have released a statement blasting the Northern Irish star.

It reads: "His attitude reflects a cultural and factual ignorance that underlines support of the Second Amendment and American liberties."
