Leonard Cohen, Feist and rapper Drake are among the 40 acts chosen as contenders for this year's (12) Polaris Music Prize for the best Canadian album of 2012.
The country's music industry officials have released the long list for the seventh annual prizegiving, and past Polaris winners Patrick Watson and F**ked Up are also nominated for their albums Adventures in Your Own Backyard and David Comes to Life, respectively.
Cohen's Old Ideas makes the grade, as does Feist's Metals and Take Care by Drake.
Other acts in the running include acclaimed singer/songwriter Kathleen Edwards, duo Japanadroids and Grimes.
A 10-nominee shortlist will be announced on 17 July (12) and the winner of the 2012 Polaris Music Prize will be announced during a gala in September (12).
Arcade Fire picked up the honour last year (11) for The Suburbs.
