Leelee Sobieski has joined the cast of a new cop show pilot, set to be produced by Robert De Niro.
LEELEE SOBIESKI, the American actress best known for her appearance in the 1998 action-drama movie 'Deep Impact', has signed up to play a "golden haired Californian girl" in a new cop show pilot produced by ROBERT DE NIRO, according to Deadline.comSobieski, who earned an EMMY AWARD nomination for her role in the television movie 'Joan of Arc' will play a character named 'Gen Perry' in the new cop show 'Rookies'. If commissioned for a full series, the program would follow the lives of six New York City cops and the struggles they face juggling their high-pressure jobs with their personal lives. Sobieksi's character is described as being "a former member of the White House Color Guard who can handle herself whether dealing with a gang-banger or a busted toilet". The actress recently completed work on the forthcoming drama movie 'The Mad Cow', which also stars Ed Stoppard and Jeffrey Tambor.
As well as 'Rookies', 67-year-old De Niro is serving as executive producer on '20% Fiction', a comedy film about a respected acting coach played by Martin Landau who becomes dissatisfied with superficial life in Los Angeles.
