LeBron tumbled into the crowd as he went for the ball during a game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.

Video footage shows him landing on Ellie Day, who was sitting courtside with her golfer husband, and she reportedly suffered a head injury in the accident. She was removed from the arena on a stretcher before being admitted to a hospital in Cleveland to receive treatment for her injuries.

Golf champion Jason was not hurt in the collision.

LeBron has since reached out to Ellie via Twitter.com to apologise for hurting her, writing, "Ellie Day I hope you're doing okay! My apologies! Hope u (sic) guys come back to another game soon. Love LJ!"

He told reporters after the game, "She squeezed my hand, said she was fine... For me, obviously, her health is very important and hopefully she is doing well... The guys told me she's doing great now. I was just going for a loose ball, tried to keep the possession going, I just hate that that was the end result..."

No further details about Ellie's injuries have been revealed.
