Leaving Las Vegas director Mike Figgis wowed crowds in London's Trafalgar Square last night (27OCT06) with a free outdoor screening of his film tribute to the British capital. The audiovisual event saw Figgis mix sound and moving image from some of London's top film-makers, artists and music producers and project the hour long spectacle onto a giant screen. He said, "To explore and celebrate multi-cultural London in the context of film and film music in a one off public event has been an exciting challenge. I hope that A PORTRAIT OF LONDON will be enjoyed as a homage to the city we all know as well as offering some more unexpected visions from the capital." Figgis film includes car chases and different ethnic groups singing songs as they walk through London. It coincides with, and was commissioned by, the London Film Festival.
