Actress Leah Remini has revealed she was forced to cut ties with friends after quitting the Church of Scientology.
The former King of Queens star made headlines in July (13) when she announced she and her family would be leaving the controversial organisation after nearly 30 years.
Confessing she had become uncomfortable with some of the practices associated with the church, Remini became the latest high-profile figure to walk away, and, during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres on Monday (09Sep13), Remini revealed the separation from the church has been difficult, especially since she has been forced to cut ties with some of her life-long friends.
She divulges, "Over time, my eyes opened, and I just could no longer be affiliated with the organisation, and my family felt the same, so we left. It's hard.
"We have lost friends that can no longer talk to us. And these are friends that we've had for dozens of years, but I have great friends, other friends that are not in the Church, that have stood by us, and our family is stronger, we're together, and that’s all I could ask for."
Since announcing her departure from Scientology, she has also inked a deal to pen a memoir about her three-decade long relationship with the church.
