Lea Michele belted out a rendition of 'America the Beautiful' at yesterday's Super Bowl.
LEA MICHELE, the American singer, actress and star of Glee, was praised for her version of 'America the Beautiful' before yesterday's Super Bowl. The 24-year-old performed the historic track in front of a 103,000 strong crowd at the Cowboys Stadium in Texas. Michele was surrounded by the San Antonio-based U.S. Air Force as she effortlessly performed the patriotic anthem wearing a cream-coloured coat. Michele brought the song to life in the concluding notes and her effort was warmly received by the sold-out crowd. However, during her rendition of the national anthem, Christina Aguilera's appeared to stumble over the lyrics and at one point sang the line "O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?", instead of the correct lyric, "What so proudly we watched at the twilight's last gleaming?"
The annual Super Bowl broadcast is renowned for the cost it places on interval advertising. It is reported that a 30 second ad can cost over three million dollars and this year's 100 million US viewers witnessed a number of film trailers, most notably for 'Cowboys and Aliens', 'Captain America' and the third Transformers movie.
