British actor Laurence Fox "bitterly regrets" being arrested for assault last week (ends22Apr07), after he attacked a photographer outside a London theatre, because it could have cost him a career in Hollywood.
The 28-year-old, who is currently starring in play Treats on London's West End alongside girlfriend Billie Piper, lost his temper with the paparazzo after his performance at the Garrick Theatre, and was taken down to Charing Cross police station after the confrontation.
He was released with an official police caution for the attack, which left the photographer with an injured ear.
But with a criminal record now to his name, Fox is worried he might not be given the chance to work in Hollywood because of strict visa rules.
A source says, "He bitterly regrets what he did and must be kicking himself.
"It looks unlikely that, if Billie and Laurence wanted to crack America together, they will be able to do that now.
"Laurence had high hopes of breaking into Hollywood, but this moment of madness seems to have cost him dearly."
