Lauren Conrad's new Paper Crown collection is ''a little edgier'' than her usual style because she wanted the clothes to appeal to everyone.
Lauren Conrad's fall fashion collection is ''a little edgier'' than usual.
The 27-year-old star tried to shy away from her personal style choices when it came to designing her latest line for Paper Crown and decided to include a number of darker-coloured items to give the clothing mass appeal.
She told Us Weekly magazine: ''I tried to make this one a little edgier. You have to always remember it's a business. I have to think, 'OK, this basic top might not be the most creative piece, but it fits everyone and sells well, so it goes in the line.' You need those bread-and-butter pieces.''
Lauren also confessed to her love of leather, which she thinks is a great day-to-night staple.
She explained: ''I love leather. I'll wear [my favourite leather skirt] with a bootie and a looser fitting top for a cooler look, but I've also worn it with a button-up blouse for a more polished look.
''I've worn it to business meetings and out to bars. And I've got a whole stack of leather pants in my closet!''
The blonde beauty - who is dating University of Southern California law student, William Tell - prefers donning a ''classic'' monochrome look when she goes for dinner.
She added: ''My biggest concern is always appropriateness. So I usually start with the vibe I'm going for. I do a lot of black and white, especially if I'm going out to dinner. It just feels classic.''
The novel's author saw a cut of the film and loved each of the changes the movie's director had made.
