Lauren Alaina, the 16-year-old American Idol runner-up, was rejected twice by Simon Cowell's 'America's Got Talent'. Lauren Alaina revealed the news during her appearance on 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno', where she was joined by 'Talent' judge Piers Morgan.
Leno began by quizzing Alaina on her relationship with 'Idol' winner Scotty Mccreery, who she is rumoured to be dating. After insisting that the pair are "just friends", Lauren joked, "Everyone wants us to like each other but we just can't seem to do it!" Attention soon turned to Wednesday evening's 'Idol' final, where Morgan noted, "I thought you were the better singer". The comments sparked a quick-fire response from the country artist, saying, "I trialled out for your show and didn't get it. Twice! I didn't make it past the first round". The British television presenter seemed shocked by the news, covering his face and declaring the situation "so embarrassing". Alaina later joked, "For all the people that try out for America's Got Talent and don't make it - try out for 'American Idol' instead!"
Lauren Alaina gained the plaudits after Tuesday's final 'Idol' performances, but it was MCCreery who received the majority of the record-breaking 122 million viewer votes. The pair will now tour together, along with nine other 'Idol' finalists including James Durbin and PIA TOSCANO.
