British singer/songwriter Laura Marling presented her producer with a Brit Award days before the big event in London after he won the top prize at the Music Producers Guild (Mpg) honours.
The folk star handed Ethan Johns the trophy on Thursday night (16Feb12) after he was named producer of the year at the annual production prizegiving, meaning he automatically wins a Brit for best producer as the Mpg sponsors the category.
The main Brits ceremony will take place on Tuesday (21Feb12).
Other winners at Thursday's Mpg event were Adele, whose Rolling In The Deep was named Best Single of 2011, and PJ Harvey, who walked away with Best Album of 2011 for Let England Shake.
Live Production of the Year went to Radiohead, and producer Steve Lillywhite won the coveted Joe Meek Legacy Award.
