The Metallica rocker may be more at home thrashing about on stage with his heavy metal band, but the 52-year-old has also put in a confident performance snapping fashion.

He shot his model wife Jessica Miller for a set of stills, in which she shows off a range of styles from the denim brand’s new collaboration with MyTheresa.

The project started four months ago when Lars was approached by his publicist about doing a piece in the Citizens of Humanity magazine with former MyTheresa fashion director Justin O’Shea. The musician jumped at the chance, explaining he and Justin were like “kindred souls or lost brothers”.

“The last thing he was doing (at MyTheresa) before he went on to Brioni was this new denim collection inspired by harder rock bands in the ’80s, my own included,” Lars told “Metallica was one of his inspirations in putting (it) together, and basically by the end of the day, we were going, ‘Wouldn’t it be fun if I shot photos of my wife for the launch?’ It wasn’t something that came through branding people; it was literally just Justin and me hanging out.”

While fans may be surprised at the Danish drummer's new career move, photography actually runs in his blood. His mother worked as a photographer before she had Lars, and can even boast being one of the first people to bring colour film to Denmark in the ‘50s.

“I’ve always been interested in photography, and when we (Metallica) work with all of these wonderful photographers, I’ve always been interested in watching them. I’m interested in composition and backgrounds, in photography as a medium,” Lars said, adding he even takes Jessica’s Polaroids when an agency asks for them.
