Police have recovered cycling champion Lance Armstrong's one-of-kind racing bike after it was stolen from outside his California hotel at the weekend (14Feb08).
The athlete ex of rocker Sheryl Crow appealed to fans to help him get the bike back on social networking website Twitter on Sunday (15Feb09), offering an reward for the safe return of his prized custom-painted Trek time-trial bicycle.
The special bike was one of four taken from a truck parked outside a hotel in Sacramento, California.
Armstrong was in the state competing in the Amgen Tour of California with Team Astana, and had ridden his black and yellow bike just hours before it was taken.
However, the treasured Trek bike was handed in at a police station in the city on Wednesday (18Feb09) - much to to the joy of the seven-time Tour De France winner.
On his Twitter page, Armstrong writes, "They recovered the bike! Don't have details yet but it's apparently on it's way here. Thanks to the Sacramento P D for the help!"
Sacramento cops insist their theft investigation will continue.
