Fashion designer L'Wren Scott has teamed exclusively with New York store Barneys to release her first perfume, described as spicy and sensual.
L'Wren Scott has launched her first perfume.
The fashion designer released a self-titled fragrance exclusively in New York department store Barneys yesterday (11.12.12) and will collaborate with the store to create new designer perfumes each year.
However, L'Wren - who is dating Rolling Stones legend Sir Mick Jagger - says she didn't just put her name on the label like other celebrities, and has been dabbling in perfumery since the age of 17.
And when it came to creating her own perfume, L'Wren had a specific idea in mind, creating the spicy and sensual eau de parfum.
She told WWD: ''I knew what I wanted. [Perfumer] Ralf [Schweiger] was quite surprised.''
The perfume's top notes include absinthe, star anise, coriander, mandarin and marigold, while the heart features tuberose, jasmine, geranium, curry and clove buds, and finally, the drydown is made up of Brazilian patchouli, musk, leather, amber and moss.
Barneys chief executive officer Daniella Vitale explained the idea for the perfume first presented itself two years ago, and the partnership between the store and L'Wren will continue for the foreseeable future.
She said: ''L'Wren has been wearing her own bespoke fragrance for years, so it was a natural for her.
''We want to create one exclusive fragrance per year and really become collectors' pieces. We are making very limited quantities and our next project will be a more dual sex collaboration.''
L'Wren plans a global business with the perfumes, in addition to her thriving fashion line.
The perfume, L'Wren Scott, is priced at $195 for a 3.4 oz bottle and is available at Barneys.
