Kylie and Guy both kickstarted their careers with stints on the Australian soap opera, with Kylie playing car mechanic Charlene from 1986 to 1988 while Guy portrayed her onscreen friend Mike for three years until 1989.

The duo are reuniting for the first time since the show and heading back to Australia to star in Flammable Children alongside Melinda and Melinda actress Radha Mitchell.

The film is set in a sleepy beachside suburb and is about an extraordinary event which changes the lives of two teenagers in 1976. It is not known what characters the stars will play.

“We are so excited to be able to support Flammable Children," says Graeme Mason, chief executive of Screen Australia. "In Kylie, Guy and Radha, the team has been able to secure some of Australia’s most established and iconic talents. The powerhouse in front of the camera is matched by the award-winning team behind it, who will bring our memories of 1970s Australia to life.”

Pearce, who is currently expecting his first child with Game of Thrones star Carice van Houten, will also be reunited with the team from 1994 comedy-drama The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

Priscilla director Stephan Elliott will lead the upcoming production, and bring in other Priscilla crew members, including costume designer Lizzy Gardiner, who won an Oscar for her previous work. Stephan also wrote the new screenplay.

Flammable Children is set to begin filming in south-east Queensland in October (16).

Kylie is best known for the pop music career, but has appeared in films San Andreas, Moulin Rouge! and Holy Motors in recent years.
