The stage star, who appeared in Spamalot and The Addams Family and starred opposite Kristin Chenoweth in Music in the Air, noticed a fellow diner in distress during a meal at a burger restaurant in Manhattan on Sunday night (19Apr15) and stepped in to help.

Sills performed the Heimlich manoeuvre on interior designer Susan Zises Green, who has since thanked the actor for his assistance.

She tells the New York Post's gossip column Page Six, "Douglas Sills saved my life. I hope he'll live on love forever!"

The drama came just a day before Sills debuted his latest Broadway show, Living on Love with Renee Fleming, on Monday (20Apr15).
