Kris Humphries is attempting to put off his divorce from Kim Kardashian in favor of an annulment, but he is still convinced he was used for the reality star's business ventures rather than for a serious marriage.
Kim recently announced plans to end the marriage after just 72 days, fuelling speculation the lavish nuptials in Montecito, California, were simply a ruse to boost the family's profile. Although Humphries claims to have had true feelings for Kim, a close friend tells he feels he was, "Just slotted in the plot line of Kim Kardashian's latest headline and newest business venture". Sources say Kris believes his wife never intended to stay married to him but simply needed a high profile groom - he plays for the New Jersey Nets - to fuel ratings for her show. One insider bluntly surmised, "Once they were finished taping, she just didn't need a groom anymore". Despite the bad feeling towards the couple, Kris is still reeling from the separation and genuinely wanted the marriage to work - one friend said, "He would have never flown in his childhood pastor to marry them and involve his church".
Although Kim has already begun initial divorce proceedings, Kris is responding with a counter-strike of his own. A representative for the Nba star, 26, told US Weekly that Humphries is seeking a legal separation from the reality star, which would ultimately lead to an annulment of their 72 day marriage. The season premiere of Kourtney and Kim Hit New York aired earlier this month, featuring the first few days of the couple's doomed marriage.
