Thailand's beloved King Bhumibol Adulyadej has died, aged 88. He spent seven decades as ruler and became the world's longest-reigning living monarch. He was 18 when he assumed the throne following his brother King Ananda's mysterious death in 1950. He will be replaced by Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn. The King was hospitalised on 3 October (16) and he underwent a medical procedure over the weekend (08-09Oct16).
