The Hotline Bling hitmaker, real name Aubrey Graham, faced a backlash from music fans this week (begs24Oct16) after debuting a track titled Two Birds, One Stone on his Apple Music OVO Sound Radio show on Sunday (23Oct16).
On the song, Drake blasts both Pusha T and Cudi for criticising his work, but it was his cutting comment about the Day 'N' Nite rapper's depression "phases" and anxiety problems which prompted social media users to call him out for taking their feud too far, as Cudi recently checked into rehab for help with his health struggles.
Now Cudi's manager and pal, Dennis Cummings, has blasted Drake for the insensitive lyrical jab, insisting it wasn't long ago that he had been desperate to work with Kanye West's former protege.
Taking to Twitter, Cummings dismissed Drake as "corny as f**k", adding, "How Aubrey and his writers take a shot with the same hands they used to beg for a feature???"
Cudi, who is still reportedly seeking professional treatment, himself has yet to comment on the rap diss, which was made in response to a tweet he had posted in September (16), poking fun at "fake" rappers who make "corny s**t" and "wont be lasting too much longer". He later made it clear he was referring to Kanye and Drake.
Meanwhile, comedian Pete Davidson, a castmember on U.S. sketch show Saturday Night Live, has heaped praise on Cudi for being so open about his personal troubles with fans, admitting his 2009 debut album, Man on the Moon: The End of Day, helped to pull the actor back from the brink of suicide.
Discussing Cudi's work on New York radio show The Breakfast Club on Tuesday (25Oct16), Davidson, 22, said, "He saved my life. I would've killed myself if I didn't have Kid Cudi... Absolutely 100 per cent. I truly believe if Man on the Moon didn't come out, I wouldn't be here."
