Khloe Kardashian has severed ties with Peta (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) following her sister Kim's flour-bombing in Los Angeles last week. Khloe - who has fronted numerous campaigns for the organization and who once appeared naked on a Peta billboard - says enough is enough.
The row stems from an incident at the launch of Kim Kardashian's fragrance True Reflection last week, when an anti-fur activist reportedly called the reality star a "fur hag" before covering her in flour. Writing on her official website following news that Kim was set to press charges against the mystery assailant, Khloe wrote, "I just received word that the woman responsible has very close ties to Peta, despite Peta publicly stating otherwise. Not only has Peta lied to the public, but they have proved that they support this kind of behavior. I've been a vocal supporter of Peta for a long time but I have also been very vocal about anti-bullying, so this was a huge disappointment for me". The organization had previously distanced themselves from the attack but reportedly offered to pay the legal fees of the woman involved in the attack should Kim take her to court. Khloe added, "We all need to practice what we preach.I will still continue to Not wear fur, but I will no longer support Peta. Bullying and harassment is Never a solution, and I won't be a part of any organization that thinks otherwise".
In response to the statement, Peta told the Hollywood Reporter, "We appreciate that Khloe will remain on the animals' side by not wearing fur-that's what counts. If one of our volunteers is responsible, it doesn't alter the fact that no animal deserves to be electrocuted, shot, or poisoned for a bit of fur clothing. Khloe is just defending her sister, and we know she has a good heart, so we wish her well. We just wish she also had more influence on her sister".
