Kevin Spacey is to follow in the footsteps of legendary playwright Arthur Miller and movie star Robert Redford - he will be honoured with America's National Pell Award for his contribution to the arts.
The Oscar-winning actor has been named as the recipient of the National Pell Award for Distinguished Achievement in the Arts, which is named after late U.S. senator Claiborne Pell.
The organisation behind the prize reveals Spacey was chosen for the honour because of his dedication to live theatre and film as well as his humanitarian work.
Both Miller and Redford are previous winners of the prestigious accolade.
Spacey will pick up the award at a ceremony in Newport, Rhode Island in June (09).
