Kevin Spacey will host the Nobel peace prize concert in Norway next week after Tommy Lee Jones pulled out.

Oscar-winner Spacey will co-host with Uma Thurman in the traditional tribute to this year's peace prize winners.

Earlier this year former US presidential candidate Al Gore and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) were jointly awarded the prestigious prize for their work in promoting the fight against man-made climate change.

The concert is being held to "spread [the] message of peace and celebrate this year's Nobel peace prize laureates", the awarding committee said.

Jones, who was Gore's room-mate when the pair were at Harvard University, reportedly had to cancel plans to host the concert due to "personal reasons".

Among those performing at the Oslo Spektrum on December 11th are Kylie Minogue, Alicia Keys, Annie Lennox and KT Tunstall.

Also on show are Earth Wind And Fire, A-Ha lead singer Morten Harket and Melissa Etheridge, whose song I Need to Wake Up featured in Gore's Academy-award winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth.
