Kevin Spacey and Alec Baldwin have been left disappointed after they were reportedly denied a chance to ask American politicians not to cut arts funding.
The actors had been due to testify at a hearing in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday (05Apr11) to urge Congress to preserve arts projects in the face of tough government budget cuts, but their appearance has now been scrapped.
A spokeswoman for the House Appropriations Committee has told the Associated Press that some hearings have been cancelled due to time restraints.
But Spacey has refused to let the news spoil his trip to the U.S. capital - he enjoyed a bicycle sightseeing tour on Monday (04Apr11) and posted a picture of himself outside the White House on his Twitter.com page.
