Executives of the Internet streaming site acquired worldwide distribution rights to the comedy, solidifying Netflix's foray into distributing original films.

While the figures of the deal were not disclosed, the movie will debut exclusively on Netflix in 2016.

The film features James as an accountant who is mistaken for an assassin when the book he's writing is accidentally published as nonfiction, and he is subsequently forced to flee to Belize.

Assassin will be led by Kick Ass 2 director Jeff Wadlow, and filming is set to begin this September (15).
