Actor Kevin Costner stunned motor racing fans in Florida at the weekend (5Jul08), by treating them to a performance with his country rock band.
The Hollywood star took to the stage with Modern West at the NASCAR race in Daytona, to play a 50-minute set of original songs and covers.
And he insisted his performance was kept low-key so that race fans could enjoy the concert without getting starstruck.
He says, "There were double-takes. They (fans) get into the music without knowing."
Costner, a huge racing fan, insists he would never be tempted to swap acting for driving - like his Message in a Bottle movie co-star Paul Newman.
He tells, "I ride bareback with buffalo and do my own stunts in movies that maybe some people wouldn't do at all, but I've never had the penchant for speed. In high school... nobody wanted to go with me. I was 20-Mile-An-Hour Costner."
Modern West are currently on tour and set to release an album in October (08).
