Kevin Bacon is joining the cast of Steve Carell's latest film.

The 'My Dog Skip' actor is the latest big name to sign up for the as-yet untitled project, which also features Julianne Moore and Ryan Gosling.

The story centres on Steve's character who hires a life coach to turn himself around after his wife - played by Julianne - announces she wants a divorce.

Kevin is to play a co-worker of Julianne's character who is having an affair with her.

Emma Stone has also been cast in the film.

The project will be directed by John Requa and Glenn Ficarra for Warner Bros, which Steve is also producing along with Denise Di Novi.

Shooting is scheduled to begin later this month.

Kevin - who won a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award earlier this year for HBO TV special 'Taking Chance' - most recently finished work on 'Elephant White', which was shot in Thailand last month.
