Patrol marks the first project for ABC Studios since Kerry and her production company Simpson Street signed a deal in April (16) to develop content for the studio and its subsidiary ABC Signature exclusively.

“I believe strongly in the importance of having a seat at the table, which makes starting this production company thrilling for me,” Kerry said in a statement when the deal was announced.

“It’s an honour to be at a point in my career when I can help generate projects that that are exciting, necessary and truly reflect the world around us. I’m grateful to be on this journey with ABC, a network that remains unparalleled in its commitment to inclusive storytelling.”

Kerry and her Simpson Street producing partner Sharla Sumpter Bridgett kicked off their company with the HBO TV movie Confirmation, in which the actress played Anita Hill, an attorney who accused U.S. Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment in 1991.

Kerry has been starring in ABC drama Scandal since 2012. However, its season six premiere has been pushed back until 2017 as she is currently pregnant with her second child with husband Nnamdi Asomugha. She debuted her baby bump on the red carpet at the Met Gala in May (16).
