Singer Kenny Rogers will join pal Lionel Richie onstage in Austin, Texas on Wednesday night (14Mar12) for a showcase concert to launch the soul man's country career.
Richie will headline the Billboard gig at the South By Southwest festival and he has announced a very special guest.
Rogers will join the Hello singer for a rendition of Lady - the 1980 tune Richie wrote for the country legend.
Announcing the duet, Richie says, "Because Lady was so huge and it was just our baby together, I couldn't think of another song to do."
And he can't wait to perform with a man he calls his "mentor", adding, "He's probably one of the best friends I have in the world... He's really a dear friend and I'm glad I could share this with him. I can't wait to sing with him onstage and tell him thank you in person.
"I get emotional because there's one person in this whole world that I owe the launch of the second half of my life, and that's Kenny Rogers."
Rogers will also join Richie to help him promote his new country album, Tuskegee, during a concert on a U.S. TV shopping network on 16 March (12).
Richie's Home Shopping Network show will launch the channel's live concert series. The event will be preceded by a live chat between Rogers and Richie on Hsn's page.
