Newlywed country star Kenny Chesney dedicated a song to his new wife RENEE ZELLWEGER last night (17MAY05) after collecting the Home Entertainer of the Year gong at the 40th annual Academy of Country Music Awards.

Chesney is overwhelmed he's beaten leading nominee Tim Mcgraw to the prestigious honour, which came just eight days after his shock marriage to the BRIDGET JONES' DIARY star, who was unable to attend the ceremony due to movie commitments.

But he paid tribute to his absent wife by singing ANYTHING BUT MINE at the Mandalay Bay Resort ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He told fans at the bash, "I go on stage every night at 9:15 but our show starts at 2:30 in the afternoon because all the fans are out there in the parking lot, partying and got our music cranked up. And I want to thank ya'll."

Other winners at the ceremony included McGraw, who took top single and song honours for his hit LIVE LIKE YOU WERE DYING , while Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss also picked up two trophies for their haunting duet WHISKEY LULLABY, which was named best video and vocal event.

Newcomer Gretchen Wilson burst into tears as she collected her pair of awards, for top new artist and female vocalist, and was consoled by veteran duo (KIX) BROOKS + (RONNIE) DUNN, who won their record 19th career award for top vocal duo.
