Filmmaker Kenneth Branagh is making an artistic pilgrimage to a backyard in Wales - so he can wave goodbye to Britain's smallest cinema. The Hamlet director is travelling to the town of Gorseinon to mark the end of the era for the 23-seat La Charrette cinema. The film theatre has been open since 1953 and was made out of a disused railway carriage by a movie-loving local resident. Before the cinema shuts its doors for the last time on Saturday (23Feb08), Branagh will make a special appearance at a black tie premiere of "lost" 2002 Danny Boyle movie Alien Love Triangle in which he co-stars with Hollywood actresses Courteney Cox and Heather Graham. The chair of La Charrette Ron Williams says, "The timber is rotting, the steel is rotting and roof is leaking - so we thought it had better close before it collapsed around us."
