Kelly Osbourne has been honoured for her work in raising awareness about the dangers of drugs at an event held in memory of her late friend BRENT SHAPIRO.
The reality TV star, who has a history of substance abuse, is an advocate for the Foundation for Alcohol and Drug Awareness in Los Angeles, which was set up by Hollywood lawyer Robert Shapiro following his son's death from ecstasy in 2005.
Osbourne was close friends with the 24 year old, and she was recently acknowledged for her efforts to promote drug awareness at The Brent Shapiro Foundation Summer Spectacular earlier this month (Sep10).
In her column for Britain's Closer magazine, she writes, "I was honoured at an event for the Brent Shapiro Foundation for Alcohol and Drug Awareness in LA. Brent was my friend who died after taking ecstasy, so the foundation encourages people to look after their friends. It's so important to call the emergency services if you're worried about someone - Brent's death was heartbreakingly preventable."
