Reality star Kelly Osbourne has applauded her rocker father for going public with his recent drug relapse, insisting it takes a "real man" to own up to his mistakes.

Ozzy Osbourne, who battled substance abuse problems in rehab in 2003, confessed in a candid post in April (13) he had been using alcohol and drugs for around 18 months.

The Black Sabbath star has since sobered up again after seeking professional help, and his daughter admits she couldn't be more proud of her dad for being so open about his issues.

She tells America's Cosmopolitan magazine, "I love and respect that he's honest enough to say, 'Yes, I did this. It was my fault.' He's a real man. Most people would hide, and he doesn't. It doesn't make me love him any less. It took a long time to get to that place, but I understand it now."

And Kelly, who has battled addiction issues of her own, reveals she knows it will be a lifetime struggle for the both of them to stay sober and healthy.

She adds, "He's an addict; I'm an addict. It's going to be one of those things we battle for the rest of our lives. I take the necessary precautions. If you're not happy and healthy, it's not worth any of it. Everyone says sex, drugs, and rock and roll are fun. It ain't fun. It is not something to glorify."
