Kelly Osbourne has leaped to the defence of her pal Miley Cyrus after the teenager laughed about becoming a "stoner" at her birthday party last week (begs21Nov11), insisting it was all a joke.
The singer/actress celebrated turning 19 with a big bash at the Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles, organised by her So Undercover co-star Osbourne.
A video of her birthday speech has since surfaced online, in which Cyrus made reference to her bong-smoking controversy last year (10), when she was caught on camera puffing on a huge pipe allegedly containing the hallucinogenic legal high salvia.
After being presented with a cake in the shape of late reggae legend and marijuana fan Bob Marley, she told guests, "You know you’re a stoner when friends make you a Bob Marley cake - you know you smoke way too much f***in' weed."
Osbourne then quipped, "I thought salvia was your problem!"
Gossip bloggers immediately jumped on Cyrus' comments as an apparent confession about her alleged penchant for pot, but Osbourne has been quick to clear up the claims.
In a series of posts on her Twitter.com blog on Sunday (27Nov11), an annoyed Osbourne writes, "Let me make something very clear after @MileyCyrus salvia incident we started calling her bob miley as a Joke! the cake was also A Joke! it makes me sick that @MileyCyrus' so called 'friends' would sell her out and lead people 2 (sic) believe she is someone that she is not!"
And Osbourne is adamant Cyrus would never be able to keep up with her busy work schedule if she was constantly high.
She adds, "u (sic) guys if @MileyCyrus is not recording/filming/touring she works everyday how could she possible (sic) do all that if she was a stoner! think".
