Newlywed singer Kelly Clarkson played coy as she was quizzed about her desire to get pregnant by Christmas (13) after U.S. talk show host Jay Leno asked her directly if she was already with child.

The Since U Been Gone hitmaker has made no secret about her hopes of starting a family with husband Brandon Blackstock following their intimate wedding last month (Oct13), and recently went public with her one holiday wish.

She said, "I want babies... Everybody keeps saying, 'What do you want for Christmas?' And I want to be pregnant."

And when Leno invited her on The Tonight Show on Monday (11Nov13), he was hoping for some big baby news.

But the singer just stated "practice makes perfect" and confessed she and her new husband are having sex "like rabbits".

However, she couldn't stop giggling as Leno tried to coax an announcement out of her, boldly asking, "Are you pregnant right now?", prompting the singer to burst out laughing and quip, "What are you saying?"

The Tv host explained, "I always get this stars that come and go, 'I'm thinking about having a baby,' and then the next week they go on Ellen (The Ellen DeGeneres Show) and announce it there. So, I'm asking you, are you pregnant?"

Clarkson grew shy as she responded, "We are not announcing anything right now. We're not, no!"

Blackstock already has two children from a previous relationship.
