Singer Kelis is expanding her resume by signing to a London-based modelling agency.
The Milkshake star, who has ventured into the food industry since training at the Le Cordon Bleu chef school in 2008, has made a deal with Premier Artists, part of Premier Model Management, which will focus on branding opportunities focused around fashion, beauty, and food.
"We are really happy to have Kelis join our roster, she has lots of exciting projects coming up and are looking forward to working closely with her on these, especially within the realm of food and drink," a representative for the agency announced.
Kelis, 37, is also listed on the agency website in the 'New additions' section with a biography which reads, "A fashion icon and designer muse since the early days of her career, she is celebrated for a personal style which is often as creative and forward-thinking as the music she makes."
Other stars represented by Premier Artists include supermodel Bar Refaeli, hip-hop star Joey Bada$$, Guy Ritchie's wife Jacqui Ainsley, reality TV star-turned-fashion designer Whitney Port, and singer Nick Cave's wife Susie.
Since focusing on being a chef, Kelis launched a range of sauces called Feast in 2013, but later renamed it Bounty & Full, and has had specials on the Cooking Channel and her own cooking web series on YouTube.com. She also named her 2014 album Food and released the cookbook My Life on a Plate: Recipes From Around the World last year (15), which she claimed was much harder than making a record.
“The book was super-stressful,” Kelis told Laweekly.com at the time. “I was in boot camp and in sheer panic doing 10 recipes a day. I didn’t let anyone in the kitchen or let them eat the food or touch ingredients in the fridge. It was really, really intense. It’s way harder than making an album.”
