Keisha Buchanan, the British pop singer and former member of Sugababes, made her live solo debut this week, performing a set at London's Jacques Townhouse to launch a selection of new material. Buchanan, often noted for her impressive vocal range, received positive reviews for the show and will release her first solo album later this year.
The singer left the award-winning girl group under acrimonious circumstances in 2009, with some reports alleging she had been asked to leave by Amelle Berrabah and Heidi Range. However, speaking to the UK's Daily Star newspaper, Keisha admits she has "forgiven" her former band mates, saying, "I've forgiven Amelle and Heidi and it's all OK, plus I saw Mutya and Siobhan last year and we're all friends". The group have been known to swap and change members regularly, with Keisha being the last original member before her departure. The singer admitted to being "so nervous" before her debut solo show, adding, "My mum started crying before I came off stage and totally started me (going) while I was still up there - I feel emotional". Speaking after the show on Twitter, Keisha said, "Wow thank you so much for all ur messages of support. Im cryin! lol Last night went well & im gonna post the link for those who missed it X".
Keisha Buchanan is currently working on her debut studio album with US producer Dallas Austin, best known for his work with Michael Jackson and Madonna. The record is expected to hit shelves later this year.
